SEBERANG PRAI: Three construction workers were killed and another one was injured in
Bukit Minyak after a part of factory warehouse building that were under construction
collapsed afternoon today.
In the incident at about 4.55pm, the victims were crushed to death as Penang experienced
heavy rain and severe wind storms during that time.
According to Fire and Rescue department zone three chief Azmi Che Man, said all three
victims were dead after being crushed to death while another one only suffer minor
injuries.
Fortunately no other victims were reported in the incident.
When met at scene Central Seberang Prai police chief ACP Rusli Mohd Noor said the
collapsed part, estimated to be at about 12 metres high, fell during the heavy downpour
and severe windstorm.
"The part that collapsed during the incident were still under construction and the victims
were working in the building during the incident," he said.
All the victims were identified as Myanmar nationala and aged between 20 to 30 years old.
The injured victim were sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile in Penang , a 59-year-old man was crushed to death when a uprooted tree fell
on top of his house during the heavy downpour today.

Lim Chong Leong was indoors when the incident occurred at Lorong Perak, near Tun Dr
Lim Cheong Eu Expressway at 5.15pm.
North East district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid confirmed the incident and
told members of media that the victim was pronounced dead by the medical team at the
scene.
Penang experienced freak weather conditions today when several places in the state
witnessed falling rooftops and uprooted trees caused by the unusually strong rain and
winds.
