Grading is based on a point system (example: a quiz could be worth 20 points, or a homework assignment could be
worth 10)
Quizzes, tests, projects, homework, online assignments, binders, participation (class dojo) and final exams are all
part of the students grade.
Reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills will all be assessed using a proficiency scale.
Grading:
All summative assessments such as tests, quizzes, and projects will be equivalent to 60% of the grade, while
homework, classwork, participation etc. will be equivalent to 40%
Extra credit:
o All extra credit will be for skill building (conjuguemos.com, wordplay.com) or cultural enrichment
(cultural presentations*, movie review*, event review*, authentic food preparation*).
Participation is a required part of this course, and class dojo will be used to track each individual students
participation. This will count towards his or her grade.
Per school policy, if a student has an excused absence, he or she may complete missing assignments for a grade. It
is their responsibility to ask for their missing assignments, and they must turn them in with the missing
assignments form still attached.
If an assignment is turned in late, it is subject to a 2 point deduction for each day that it was late.
Make-up tests/re-tests:
o Students must submit a request to re-test if they are re-taking a test they did poorly on (document is available in the
forms and docs page on my website).
o If a student was absent for a test or quiz, he or she must make arrangements to come before or after school, or during
CLC time, to take the assessment within 1 week of the absence.
Homework:
o Homework will be assigned throughout each unit.
