In

a glacial area of northern

Canada, Local Inuit people reported on
the presence of English speaking polar
bears.
According to witness Quacheba
from the remote town of Zakalula, a
family of three polar bears broke the
equanimity of the past Sunday
morning. I was cooking breakfast
when two lofty looking parent bears
meandered across the streets outside
my window, followed closely by a small
wobbly little bear. (1) Remarked
farmer John; I am certain I heard them
say the word hungry, there was no
other people out on the streets so
early.
The rumor of talking polar bears
quickly became prevalent throughout
the area, and recently three other local
Inuit residents claim to have witnessed
talking polar bears during early
morning hours. Ambivalence (2) rising
throughout the town of Zakalula. The
more apathetic residents suggested
that the claimers should be carted off
to the mental hospital right away. (3)
Moreover, the more wary residents
considered moving homes, believing
that the polar bears were cursed and
would bring (4) dangerous effects to
the nation. Local children viewed polar
bears as affable and loving. A
significant amount of elementary
school students (5) stopped paying
attention in classes and cannot control
themselves from peeking out the
window, which frustrated many school
teachers.
While the Canadian government
responded to the case by explaining
that the talking polar bears were most
likely to be human walking around in
polar bear onesies, excitement and
chaos continued to grow in Zakalula.
The modern world limit
imagination and circumscribe the
impossible. Remarked Mahova, an
Inuit teenage girl living in Zakalula.

By issuing the declaration of
independence, adopted by the
Continental Congress on July 4, 1776,
the 13 American colonies severed their
political connections to Great Britain.
The declaration summarized the
colonists motivations for seeking
independence.
Throughout the 1760s and early
1770s, American colonists (1) find
themselves increasingly at odds with
the constraints set by the British. (2)
Aversion to Britain among colonists
grew due to pressure from the
byzantine British policies regarding
taxation and frontier policy. When (3)
repeating protests failed to affect
British policies, fighting broke out
between the British forces and the
American colonists.
Throughout 1775-1776, the
national congress came to the
realization that reconciliation with the
Britain would be unlikely.
Independence became the only
available choice.
In early 1766, the British
government (4) circumscribed trade
with the colonies, which resulted in the
Congress opening colonial ports. This
is another major catalyst toward
independence. Colonial leaders started
discussing the possibilities of forming
foreign alliances.
The congress formed a committee to
draft a declaration of independence
and assigned this duty to Thomas
Jefferson. Benjamin Franklin and John
Adams reviewed Jeffersons draft. The
committee presented the final draft
before Congress on June 28, 1776, and
Congress adopted the final text of the
Declaration of Independence on July 4.
The British government did its best
to denounce the document, and (5)
never acknowledged the document in
public. However there were many
supporters of the declaration in British

The Declarations most important
diplomatic effect was to allow for
recognition of the United States by
friendly foreign governments. The
Sultan of Morocco mentioned
American ships in a consular document
in 1777, but Congress had to wait until
the 1778 Treaty of Alliance with
France for a formal recognition of U.S.
Great Britain officially acknowledged
the United State as a sovereign and
independent country after the Treaty
of Paris was signed in 1783, which
ended the war of the American
Revolution.
