Who is Bernoulli?
Daniel Bernoulli established the
fundamental relationship between the
properties of basic importance in fluid flow,
particularly pressure, density, and velocity in
his written work, Hydrodynamica(1738).[1]

What is Bernoullis Theorem?

The total mechanical energy of the flowing
fluid fluid pressure, the gravitational
potential energy of elevation, and the
kinetic energy of fluid motion, remains
constant.
Bernoulli's theorem is the principle of energy
conservation for ideal fluids in steady, or
streamline, flow.

The Experiment
At steady state flow, The total mechanical
energy of the flowing fluid remains constant.

The Bernoullis theorem demonstration
apparatus was used to analyze the flow of
fluid along a vessel.

The Objectives
Determine

the validity of the Bernoullis

Theorem on the flow of water in a tapering
circular duct by comparing the theoretical
total head and the observed total head at
a given flow rate.

Determine

the range of validity of the

Bernoullis Theorem using water flowing at
different flow rates

Procedure

Remove air bubbles

Turn the valve to Fully Open

Let water flow until air bubbles
are removed.

Procedure
Know maximum and minimum
heads that they can reach

Procedure
Assume flow rate by adjusting inlet
and/or valve.

Note: DO NOT change or move the inlet and valve YET.

Just Let It Flow Let It Flow..

Procedure
Reading the Manometer
Insert the probe to full
Record the level in each
tubes.

Procedure
Reading the Manometer
Move the probe end to the
tapered portion.
Record the level in each

Procedure

Procedure
Check the type of flow.
*Type of flow in points 1-6 should be the same.
Laminar: water might not go out the exit
stream
Transitional : can have 1 point that is not
transitional.
Turbulent: The flow shouldnt be obviously
turbulent
