Guide to Spanish vocabulary A1 will be your best friend while
starting to learn this beautiful language. Here you will find
separate lists of words for different topics usual for A1. Also
explanations and some rules - just to help you better understand
the vocabulary. As we want to make this not only helpful, but also
fun to work with - look for special sections, where we left you some
tips and interesting facts about Spanish language.
Alphabet
The Spanish alphabet in Spanish is called "abecedario." The Spanish alphabet
consists of 29 letters.

Shortening uno and ciento: Uno and numbers ending in uno are shortened to un when they immediately precede a masculine noun.
When standing alone (that is, being 100
exactly)ciento is shortened to cien before
preceding a noun of either gender; the longer
form is used within longer numbers (except when
preceding mil).

All of the names for months are masculine: el enero,el febrero, etc. It usually
isn't necessary to use the elexcept when giving specific dates.
Note also that the names of the month are not capitalized in Spanish.
The most common way of giving dates is following this pattern: el 1 de enero
de 2000. For example: La Declaracin de Independencia de los EE.UU. fue
ratificada por el Congreso Continental el 4 de julio de 1776 en Filadelfia. (The
U.S. Declaration of Independence was ratified by the Continental Congress on
July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia.) As in that example, the word "on" in an "on +
date" phrase does not have to be translated to Spanish.
Otherwise, the names of months are used similarly to how they are in English:
Abril es el cuarto mes del ao. April is the fourth month of the year.
