My Personal Journey.
I believe I will always be a lifelong learner. I have a proven passion for educating and caring for
children and love the challenges and rewards that teaching brings.

I have had extensive experience as a State School Prep and Primary teacher aide and for the three
years 2011 - 2013 had built and directed a successful and stable Family Day Care business. I was
sole carer /educator and as a result have a comprehensive understanding and working knowledge
of the Early Years Learning Framework and associated outcomes and Early Childhood legislation.

I have recently finished teaching on an outback cattle property in Western Queensland, teaching
three wonderful children while following the Australian Curriculum in partnership with Capricornia
School of Distance Education.

I am articulate and have excellent people skills. I have a good sense of humour but also demonstrate
a responsible attitude and a high standard of professional commitment. I have a natural artistic talent
that I have always found useful in the classroom and I am fit and healthy enough to participate in all
sporting and recreational activities.

My passion is a love of photography, writing, travel and I have an interest in Asian culture. I believe
other countries and cultures contribute to global educational experiences and am hoping to one day
be able to make a real difference teaching in these communities.

I have experienced some really amazing adventures and challenges teaching in the outback, and
believe the bonds and friendships that develop from working with wonderful families and children
are some of the greatest rewards of teaching.

I truly look forward to teaching and learning and working alongside inspirational educators. My
preference is undoubtedly teaching in Early Childhood Education as that is where my experience
lies, though I would be more than prepared to adapt quickly and teach where I am most needed.

Sincerely,
Karen Thompson
