The purpose of this action research was to examine the usage of Jigsaw in increasing the Year 5
students ability in the skill of controlling variable. The action research design employed the
Model of Kemmis (1983). The research respondents used was 9 students. The respondents were
selected through to the Test of the previous first semester, Diagnostic Test and the interview
among the students at a school in Limbang district. The focus of the study was to increase the
students ability in the skill of controlling manipulated variable, responded variable and constant
variable with the usage of Jigsaw techniques of cooperative learning. The data was collected
from the observation, interview, pre-skill test, test of skill 1 and skill 2 that consisted of 10
subjective items. The data collected was analysed by using content analyses and pattern
