COURSE GOALS
As stated in the California Common Core State Standards for Integrated Mathematics I, The fundamental
purpose of Mathematics I is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in the middle grades.
The critical areas, organized into units, deepen and extend understanding of linear relationships, in part by
contrasting them with exponential phenomena, and in part by applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear
trend. Mathematics 1 uses properties and theorems involving congruent figures to deepen and extend
understanding of geometric knowledge from prior grades. The final unit in the course ties together the algebraic
and geometric ideas studied. The Mathematical Practice Standards apply throughout each course and, together
with the content standards, prescribe that students experience mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical
subject that makes use of their ability to make sense of problem situations. California Common Core State
Standards can be found at: http://www.corestandards.org/assets/CCSSI_Mathematics_Appendix_A.pdf

ACADEMIC HONESTY
The Fontana Unified School District requires all students to demonstrate honesty and to abide by ethical
standards in preparing and presenting materials, as well as in testing situations. Grades should reflect the
student's own work in the fairest possible way. Academic dishonesty, cheating, or plagiarism involves an
attempt by the student to show possession of a level of knowledge or skill, which the student does not possess.
It involves any attempt by a student to substitute the product of another, in whole or in part, as the students own
work. This policy covers all school-related tests, quizzes, reports, class assignments, and projects. Academic
dishonesty will automatically result in no credit, as well as a referral and parent contact.

6.

Get to class on time, meaning you are in your assigned seat before the tardy bell rings.
Be in your seat and ready to work on the task at hand.
Students who are tardy or late without a valid pass will be required to complete a tardy assignment.
Come to class prepared with the required materials
No food, gum or drinks in class. (Only Bottled Water)
School rules regarding the tardy policy, dress code, and electronic devices will be enforced.

7. Respect yourself, your classmates, and your school.
