TIPS NACE Soccer Challenge 2015

Day 2
Day 2 of the TIPS-NACE Soccer challenge kicked off to a fantastic start. There was a fullyfunctioning snack stall (run by the CAS volunteers of DP Year 1) selling delectable treats and
drinks. The DJ team had gotten up early and gotten the mixing board ready with a full song list for
the rest of the day. The welcoming and registration committee was already at their desk near the
entrance to the venue, ready to welcome all teams that would show up. The MC team was ready
with their microphones set up, and the field had been newly painted and cut for the exciting day
ahead. This day was to be full of action-packed matches, and so it was.

The CAS RDJ Team

The first match was scheduled to be Vidya Niketan vs SBOA. The Vidya Niketan team arrived early
and began to practice. However, the opponent team, SBOA, was unable to make it to the venue and
Vidya Niketan was thus granted a walk-over to the next round.
Match 2 also ended in a similar manner to Match 1. It was to be played between Nava Bharathi and
Shri Nehru Vidyalaya, but the latter team did not show up the former was thus granted a walk-over
to the next round.
For the third scheduled match of the day, both teams showed up at the venue and played one
electrifying match indeed. Both Stanes ICSE and PSBB Millennium came to the venue determined
to win.
Contrary to popular belief, these Under-10 teams played one of the most thrilling matches in the
tournament.
The game started at precisely 11:21 am and both teams came out guns-blazing. For the first twenty
minutes of the match, the ball flew back and forth between both the sides as no team was able to
gain ground on the other.
At 11:45 am, a foul was called and a Stanes player was injured. The injured midfielder subsequently
retired from the match and a substitute player was put it. Despite the injury, Stanes was undaunted,
and one minute later, at 11:46, they scored a goal.

PSBB retaliated back and promptly scored a goal at 11:55 am. With 2 minutes left in the game, both
teams pushed really hard to score the winning goal, but neither could. The match thus ended in a tie
and was pushed into a penalty kick-off.
The penalty kick-off was extremely tense. When one team scored, the other would too and when
one blocked, the other would too. This went on for a while, until PSBB was able to take the lead by
2 goals and maintain it, thus winning the penalties 4-2.
The player of the match award was given to Karan of Stanes, who played extremely well for his
team.
