SUBJECT: Bending of control handle stems.

DESCRIPTION: If the operator stops the truck with the handle stem in the fully lowered
position, the handle may bend due to uneven stop blocks.

REMEDY: The stop block on the right hand side of the handle pivot can be ground down to
eliminate the possibility of the handle stem bending.

PROCEDURES: See page 2 of 2.

PROCEDURES:

Park the truck on a smooth, level work surface.


Turn off the truck and disconnect the battery.
Carefully tape off the handle pivot to prevent metal grindings from being
blown or dropping through the hole under the handle return spring. See
figure 1.

Using a 4 disc grinder and two new grinding discs, carefully grind away
7/16 from the cast block. See figure 2.

Measure from the top of the block
down, mark the line staight
across the face of the block.

After carefully grinding away excess metal allow casting to cool. Using
compressed air or a vacuum, remove grindings from the handle pivot,
and remove tape.
Connect battery, turn on the truck and ensure proper truck operation
before returning to service.
