Introduction
Hello there! If you are reading this, you are probably someone who wants use and/or
setup the PSG (also known now as the broadcast room). At first glance, the setup may seem
daunting, but fret not! This guide is designed to bring you step by step through what you
probably need to know about the inner workings of this newly (at least relative to the other
rooms, at the time of making this guide) refurbished room.
Who am I? Well, briefly speaking, I am (or used) to be the AV technician here
at HIHS. Prior to my work here I have dove into the mysterious and intriguing world of video
and audio (Very much an art form really). My forte (so to speak) would probably be mostly in
the field of video production (more of the cinematic kind as compared to the ENG style).
Being the one man band most Singaporean aspiring filmmakers are, I had also needed to
learn field audio capture. That probably aided in my work here at HI. Therefore, Much more
video then audio, though, so not much footwork with means to the work to be done here in
HIHS as an AV technician, however, quite a few things carry on in this two fields. Pertaining
to this guide, the PSG room is setup a lot like a recording studio, something that I have had
very little experience in in the past. However, through my course of work, research, and
reference to prior knowledge of the art, I have (however briefly) learnt how to use this
broadcast room.
With that said, I may not be perfect (well, everyones constantly learning
right?) with all the equipment in the room, however, I would at least say I have at least
equipped myself with the minimal skills needed to run this (theoretical) ship. Hopefully by
the end of this guide, I could have already imparted to you the basic knowledge of the
workflow to handle the day to day usage of this room.
What is the broadcast room? Well, it is a room setup in the former Parent
Support Group, PSG, room. It is built, as I said a lot like a recording studio, with
broadcasting capabilities, think maybe, radio station.
This guide is written in a way such that some tips may not exactly be in the
most technically accurate section, however I place them there as I think it would be best as I
usually take note of those during that period of time (I guess this guide is written in quite a
chronological order that way). Thus, I recommend reading this guide from its cover to its
back.
Ill probably end this introduction here, applauding you if you have read thus
far, and lets get on with the guide shall we?
