CAUSES OF CIVIL WAR

What were the causes that led to the civil war? Slavery was one of the
biggest causes of civil war. South and North debated whether there should
be slavery or not. South wanted slavery because they depended on
agriculture there biggest production was cotton they produced 2/3 of all the
cotton produced in the world. They needed slaves to grow and harvest the
cotton, Slaves started to escape through a secret road known as the Under
Ground Railroad There were people that would help slaves escape and
survive, some would give them food and a place to sleep they were known as
abolitionist. There were many abolitionists around the world Harriet
Tubman was one of them that would help slaves escape to their freedom.
Harriet Beecher Stowe was another big abolitionist she published a book
named Uncle Toms Cabin that was read wildly around the world that was
supposed to let the world see what happened to slaves. Slave Owners were
mad because there slaves kept escaping to their freedom, So they came up
with the Slave Act that allowed Slave Owners get their slaves back from
where ever they were slave owners started to post posters similar to wanted
posters everywhere they could. Slave hunters would capture slaves and turn
them in alive to their owner and get there reward. They decided to divide
south and north, Elections were on and Abraham Lincoln was sure to win he
had the most votes this made the south furious because Abraham Lincoln
didnt agree with slavery and also California wanted to be a free state but
was divided in half and California was the biggest country this made another
conflict because it made the scale unbalanced .The south wanted to create
their own country and created a war The Union vs. Confederate states
and was one of the worst wars killing thousands of people mostly with new
inventions like the new musket and mini ball that could rip a person in half.
