Weekly Learning Objectives

Language Arts - In Reading, students spent time using context clues

to find the meaning of unknown words. We discussed four types of
context clues: antonym or contrast, definition or explanation,
synonym or restatement, and inference.
In Writing students revised their animal narrative. We spent a lot of
time adding detail and events to help our narratives flow.
Math - In Math, students continued using the area model, expanded
notation model, and algebraic model for multiplying multi-digit
numbers. We discussed that each strategy has the same steps but
they are represented in different ways. Students should be able to
use each strategy but we encourage them to use the strategy that
works best for them!

everything the animal needs to survive (food, water, air, and shelter!) Dioramas will go along with the animal your child
selected to write a personal narrative!

narratives.

SCHOOL INFORMATION
-Friday September 4th is Rock Star Day. Students can dress as their favorite rock star and rock out on track out day!
-Septembers character trait of the month: Respect. Everyone appreciates a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T! You show respect
toward someone when you are kind, you consider the other person's point of view, and when you're mindful of how your
actions impact others. Basically, you treat others the way you would like to be treated- That's the Golden Rule! You can
show respect toward your teachers, parents, other students, even toward the environment. Our crocs do a great job of
showing respect toward one another, and that's what makes Sycamore Creek such a great place to be!
