Grading Policy:
Student grades will be weighted accordingly in the grade book:
Major Projects (60%)
Minor Projects/ Sketchbooks & Quizzes (30%)
Participation (10%)
Students will be required to complete a sketchbook assignment each week that corresponds to
skills and ideas presented by Major Projects. Class participation will be recorded along the basis
of student engagement in Major and Minor Projects, as well as productive use of class time
(including clean up). Those who fail to use class time effectively and clean up their areas before
leaving will be graded accordingly.
**Projects will be graded according to specific criteria and rubrics that will be made available at
all times to students. Projects will thus be graded using the grading scale below.
Grading Scale:
A 93-100
B 85-92
C 77-84
D 70-76
F 69 and below
Absence Policy and Late Work/Makeup Work: Students who are absent and miss project
deadlines have 5 days upon return to school in order to complete and turn in the assignment in
order to receive credit. Students must report to the teacher as soon as possible about any excused
absences so that arrangements for project submission dates and project information may be
arranged.
If a student has not been absent but has failed to turn in work on the due date for the project, they
have up to 5 days to turn in the project before they receive a zero. Each of the provided late days
that the student can turn in work will result in an additional decuction of 5 points on the project.
(ex: After 1 late day, -5 pts. to grade. After 2 late days, -10 pts. to grade. Etc.)
