Introduction:
When large companies such as Coca Cola have a clearly recognizable logo for
their brand, that logo becomes an important asset. To ensure that that brand
stays exclusive to their product, companies must find a way to identify what
exactly specifies as their logo. A common method for this is the use of
mathematics to identify the equations that could be used to exactly mirror the
logo design. This report aims to show the way in which values, points and lines
are documented to create the logo design.
The logo used in this report is for a
cat food company.
I am also following this list of constraints:

I must include at least one set of parallel land one set of perpendicular
lines
There must be at least one line that is not horizontal or vertical
One perpendicular line must be found from being the perpendicular
bisector of two points, one of my perpendicular lines must be found using
the equation of a perpendicular from a point to a line.
The logo must have at least two colours (represented by inequalities)

Method:
Here is an image showing my original intention for the logo design. I decided to
make a shape that represents a cats head that could possibly be used for a cat
food company. I started by labelling points on my roughly drawn axis. I was
marking points while still drawing the logo so they are not in much of an order
which could have possibly caused confusion while doing the equations but luckily
was not an issue.

I then listed the coordinates of points and the lines that I would have to find the
equations of. I also wrote a short list of formulas in the top corner for reference.
To find the equations of each line I used the formula m = y2-y1/x2-x1 to find the
slope of the line using two coordinate points located on the line, I then used the
formula c = y mx (rearranged from y= mx+c) to find the y intercept of the line,
then I plugged the values back into y=mx+c to get my equation. In the case of
horizontal or vertical lines, I just used their x/y values.

The findings that are listed above have been proven using GeoGebra as seen in
the diagram below. (I used a transparent red marker to trace the outline of my
design to make it easier to see)

I believe that the logo I have produced is of high quality that accurately depicts
my plans for the design. It is a clean and simple design that doesnt seem too
cluttered or busy and is not uneven. One limitation is that I was required to use
only straight lines. I believe the design of a cats face may have looked better if it
could be produced using curved lines. Another limitation was my knowledge of
the software used, GeoGebra. I think that if I may have been more familiar with
the software I may have been able to produce a flashier design. An improvement
I think I could have made on the design is to have more different coloured
regions (represented as inequalities) to create a more complex looking design
but I think that the two colours goes with the rigid shape of the cat.

Conclusion:
The final logo, produced in GeoGebra was of a level of accuracy that would not
be possible to represent without the use of mathematics. Of course, to produce
create a more complicated logo that includes curved lines or complex polygonal
shapes would require a greater knowledge of mathematical principals as well as
a lot more time and effort.
