Office of County Administrator ‘TELEPHONE 276-926-2301 ‘COURTHOUSE Faxa7e 20-9780 sos SWAN STREET WISE, VIRGINIA 24203, RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE UTILIZATION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY WHEREAS, the Wise County Bar Association and Clerk of Cireuit Court for Wise County and the City of Norton have been recognized by the 2010 General Assembly as a leader in judicial information technology development relating to subscriber-based remote real estate document access and attorney access to digital civil and criminal case files; and, WHEREAS, the Wise County Sheriff and the Clerk of Circuit Court have agreed to share electronic documents with each other, rather than paper documents, thereby reducing processing cost and time beginning in the spring of 2010; and, WHEREAS, the Wise County Commonwealth's Attomey has successfully converted to a digital record management system and through a joint effort with the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office has linked that system with the system currently in place in the Clerk of Court office in order to share data, reducing the need for repetitive entry of information and thereby decreasing processing time, saving money and reducing errors; and, WHEREAS, the Clerk of Circuit Court, the Sheriff and the Wise County Commonwealth Attorney have mutually agreed to work together to reduce use of paper and increase the creation, maintenance and sharing of electronic records in order to automate functions, save money, and increase both efficiency and productivity NOW, THEREFORE, BE, IT RESOLVED that the Wise County Board of Supervisors ‘commends the Wise County constitutional offices of Sheriff, Commonwealth’s Attomey, and the Clerk of Circuit Court for the unparalleled effort and unity in sharing information technology innovation applied to judicial administration with the goal of increased efficiency and productivity, ADOPTED this 22 day of February, 2010, ATT) WISE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS. darfon C.
