The Morphology, Anatomy, and Characteristic

of Miana (Coleus Hybrid) Leaf
ABSTRACT
This study aims to describe the
morphology, anatomy, and characteristic
of miana (Coleus hybrid) leaf. The study
use directly observation methode at
Campus of State University of Malang. The
necessary data and information were
collected
through
observation
and
identification on miana leaf. This plant is
widely spread in Indonesia included in Campus of State University of
Malang.
This leaf has beautiful color with purplish red in the center ,
green in the side and bottom of leaf. Based on the shape of lamina
miana leaf belongs to Elliptical or Oval type, because the middle
part of lamina is broad while the end are narrow and oval. The type
of stipules is Interpetioler because two leaves are meet oppositely
at the node then nearest stipules of each leaf joinwith each other.
The long of this leaf is about 6 - 8 cm, and the wide is about 4
5 cm in the middle of leaf with 2 cm in the end of leaf. The result
indicated that the leaf belongs to monocotyledoneae leaf due to its
morphology and characteristic. This study also suggested to make
any efforts to conserve the variety of miana plant not only Coleus
hybrid but any type of miana plant.
