Module 2 Curriculum: Body Structures

Basic Anatomy (806-189)OVERVIEW:

Anatomy and physiology is the foundation for a number of health related
occupations. In order to understand what occurs during disease, the basic concepts
of normal anatomy and physiology must be realized. Understanding the anatomy of
an organ or tissue is critical to understanding the physiology of that organ or tissue.
COMPETENCY:

Explain concept of homeostasis as it relates to anatomy and physiology.

Relate body structures to body systems and functions.
Relate anatomical terminology to body regions, body and organ planes, and body
cavities.
CRITERIA:

You describe similarities and differences between anatomy and physiology.

You complete assigned tasks according to prescribed criteria.
You apply standard rules of language structure including grammar, spelling, and
punctuation.
You distinguish between fact and opinion.
You compare anatomy and physiology.
You identify anatomical and physiological examples of homeostasis.
You identify organs and tissues within each body system required in your
examination.
You complete assigned tasks according to prescribed criteria.
You apply standard rules of language structure including grammar, spelling, and
punctuation.
You are creative in exploring possible solutions.
You include similarities and differences between anatomy and physiology.
You provide physiological and anatomical examples of homeostasis.

You outline body's levels of organization.

You use terminology associated with body's level of organization.
You complete assigned tasks according to prescribed criteria.
You apply standard rules of language structure including grammar, spelling, and
punctuation.
You produce work consistent with established criteria.
You use active problem-solving techniques (Plan, Do, Check, Act).
You link body functions and body systems.
You demonstrate correct anatomical position.
You apply terminology associated with sections, planes and body structure
positional relationships.
You identify abdominal organs by abdominopelvic cavity regions.
You identify viscera by their specific body cavities.
CONDITIONS - Competence will be demonstrated:

by participating in an online Discussion. See the online Discussion scoring guide for
more details.
by successfully completing Exam 1.
