Semester Credits:This is a year-long, 2-semester Business course


(2 credits in Business are required for the Class of 2018 and beyond)

Course Description:
This course provides an overview of common software
application tools as well as an introduction to file management
principles and practices. Students will develop basic operational
proficiency while using the MS Office Suite of applications (MS Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint) to create and share a variety of documents
used to perform tasks and fulfill employment responsibilities found in
the workplace. Students will apply appropriate file naming conventions
and organizational structures to efficiently manage file storage on local
computers and shared networks.

This course is aligned with the Michigan Department of
Educations (MDE) content expectations for Business Management and
Administration (BMA). Students who complete 2 semesters of study in

Business Management and Administration course will be designated as

Student Evaluation Criteria and Grading Standards
Evaluation Criteria:
The majority (80%) of the students semester grade is based
upon all coursework assigned by the Instructor (including in-class
activities, quizzes and tests, etc., as well as homework). The End of
Semester Exam accounts for 20% of the semester grade. It is each
students responsibility to keep track of their work; if they feel there
has been a mistake in the calculation of their grade, they will need to
provide the proof deemed necessary for a grade change. All questions
or discussions about individual assignments and/or semester grades
should be done before or after class.
Grading Scale:

Semester Work
80% A=100-90%, B=89-80%,
End of Semester Exam 20% 20%
C=79-70%, D=69-60%,
E=59% or lower.

Homework/Makeup:
After school lab time may be required if a student falls behind
schedule. An instructor will need to be present at all scheduled after
school labs.
