Deuteronomy 6:4-9

The most important thing this year

is that we are sharing Christand
pointing the students and others we
come in contact with toward Him.
Pray with usthat we would be
faithful and ready to be usedand
available/sensitive to what He wants
to do in and through us.

Our Last Months in a Nutshell

This summer was different than we expected. Because of changes
BFA was making for language learning, we spent A LOT more time
studying German than we had originally plannednormally 3-5
hours a day, but we have noticed a difference in our language skills
for sure.
Katie got involved in helping with the Home Student Fellowship,
which this summer we more like a Wednesday night Youth Group.
She enjoyed having more interaction with the students in a setting
without her teacher hatbut just an adult who is willing to give
time to connect with them.
My friend, Tran, and I (Katie) have reconnected. She is having a
hard time. She is still following the Lord. She is in training to be a
nurse. Pray that we can continue to meet and that she would continue
to grow in her walk, and that I would too.
One of the other blessings of being here over the summer is that we
were here in time to help new incoming staff get settled here in
Germany. We officially hosted one new staff member, but also had
the privilege of helping host two other incoming families. There is
certainly a lot involved with moving here, but it was a lot of fun to
get to know these new colleagues and friends, and get to be part of
the significant moments in their getting settled at BFA. Everything
from putting together furniture, to shopping, to registering at the
Rathaus (the German government house), translating.it is actually a
lot of fun!
We also got to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We took a
two night trip to Cinque Terra. It was a place we had on our list to
see. Our trip ended up being more eventful and less relaxing than we
had planned, but we also learned a few more things about planning a
vacation together, what to do when the GPS guides you the wrong
way, and persistence when the hiking path is a lot more treacherous
than you expected. It was an experienceand it was good!!!
Opening Ceremony and the first day of classes was this last week.
The first part is on my (Katie) FaceBook page if you would like to
see it, where the Senior Class parades in with the flags of the
countries represented in the student body for that year. This year we
have 62 countries represented.
We also had our first day of classes and I am excited! We are both
excited for what He has for us this year!

We had the privilege to attend the reception

of a German wedding this summer. The
wedding was of Kandern City Band
Directors sister, Esther. She has played
with the band some. Below is a picture fro
Maiwecken this Mayit was in our last
newsletter as wellshe and I both played
the piccolo for the event.
At her receptionguess which song she
picked for the first and last for the
composite band, which I was also in, to
playyou will never guess
If you get this right, without cheating, I
will send you a box of chocolates from
Germany. On me. (Answer after the
pictures,)

IT Corner
Spending the summer here really
helped with IT projects. One
project was 3years old, just waiting
for a viable summer to work on it.
Other projects included linking
iPads to a centralized management
system, updating some computers
to Windows 10, and centralizing
our password system (this will save
IT a LOT of time!). And of course,
getting all the new staff and
students setup for email, Internet
access, etc. Not every project was
completed, but with four IT staff
this year, we should continue to see
a lot of improvement!

Katies Highlight
My highlight might seem a little weird,
butI am thankful for more time.
Since I graduated from college, and
through my so far ten (this my
eleventh) years of teaching, I have not
had a teaching load as light as this one.
However, I have a BIG teama
capable teamand I am thankful!
More than a BIG team, I have a
HUMUNGOUS God, and I think He
has a plan for this timethis yearso,
I am thankful for the time.
Please pray I find His purpose for the
timeif it is a certain way He wants
me to use itorif He just wants
more time with me. I want/need more
time with Him, somaybe I am being
given a gift.

Circle of Friends
BFA is an interesting place to serve
because there are so many people who
come and go.butit is always
inspiring and encouraging to meet the
new people God has called and
to make new friends!!!!
