GUIDELINES IN CITING RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

CHECKLIST OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MATERIALS CITED

1. Setting
This consideration must be examine which includes the time
when the research was conducted, the location of the research
study from the material cited, and the respondents to the study. As
much as possible, information coming from the most recent
research materials are more reliable than the older information
due to several social, technological changes and possible
obsoleteness of the facts which we would like to examine. The
location of the study will aid the researcher where to conduct
his/her study in order to avoid duplication of the study by having
its same locale and respondents, if possible.

2. Subject
The subject of the research material can give you an
assurance. By looking from its title up to its content, for instance,
the researcher may say that the research material is dependable
and can give you an idea of the scope of the work the researcher
needs to build up for the research.

3. Objectivity
Objectivity of the research refers to the views that the
research depicts. As much as possible, this research materials
should be avoided for the clear intention of the research

4. The Problem
The problem coming from the research material depicts of
what problem has been known or has been examined in order to

avoid duplication of an investigation using the same location of the


study. This portion may assist the researcher to find another
existing problem that needs more attention, emphasis and
solution.

5. Methodology
Methodology aims to suggest data-gathering devices, an
appropriate study design This portion may able to aid the
researcher to find what data should be needed, some similar
techniques of collecting data that and some sampling devices the
researcher might need. Moreover, this portion will provide the
researcher certain irrelevant proceeds that should be avoided.
