The Sun was at apex position.

Mirages danced wetly over the crags surrounding

Camp Arivaca -- laughing at their own deadly irony.

I was 20 miles from the plastic tarp village, and 1,800 miles from home. I stood
amid a group of four volunteers carrying food and water, aid for migrating
families. I was screaming at the Sonoran Desert.

“Agua! Comida!” I yelled. “No Somos con la pinche migra!”

It’s impossible to say how many people die of dehydration and exhaustion in
Southwest Arizona each year, but the rule of thumb is three bodies missing for
each one found.

The dead -- during the summer months they can be considered dead the instant
they decide to cross on foot -- are forced north by the savage violence of the drug
cartels and intractable poverty. They are forced into the impassable Sonora region
by the United States government.

The bureaucrats focus on securing the most habitable areas of the Mexican border.
They believe the death toll in areas like Sonora will deter would-be crossers. It
doesn’t.

They continue to walk. They continue to die.

This is why I am a journalist. The object of my soul’s desire is to tell untold stories
from the margins of our society -- and any true man knows that he cannot deny the
passions of his soul.

To that end, I am seeking out the richest life experiences available to me. I believe
working for College Gentleman is one such experience.

It is clear to me that CG stands for the noble epicurean, a position which is often
unpopular. To me, working for CG is about freeing my soul from the conventions
of society which work to shackle a man’s spirit.

I am experienced in a variety of writing styles, especially writing about nascent

technology. Specifically, I am currently the co-founder of my own new media
startup. I would also be more than comfortable writing about Sex or DIY Projects
but as for my qualifications in those areas, I think it goes without saying that a
Gentleman never tells. I hope to hear from you, because like any person who
mixes business and pleasure -- I cannot wait to get to work.
