t's time to bringCalderdale CCG owes everyone an apology
Calderdale 38 Degrees NHS Campaign demands that the CCG apologises for falsely claiming in
the engagement evidence data pack that there have been no public complaints about the Right
Care Right Time Right Place proposals. And for “engaging” “stakeholders” in a flawed, biassed
process,
Public opposition was obvious from the first big street demonstration in March 2014, and
has continued ever since then. But Calderdale CCG's 20th August Stakeholder Engagement Event
presented the claim that “The Care Closer to Home plans are genuinely what people want."
Councillors have pointed out absurdities, design flaws and weaknesses in the CCG’s
engagement. From the start in 2014, it's been a shambles - misinformation, in our view.
“Appreciative enquiry” has only made this worse
You've not told “stakeholders” that the price of so-called ‘care closer to home' will be the loss of our
local acute hospital services. Nor that there is reliable evidence that closing A&E departments
increases death rates. Nor that there is no evidence that the new schemes will be better for
patients - or cheaper.
We deserve better. Tell us what ALL the options are, honestly and openly, so that we can
make informed choices. Instead, you're already carrying out your plans, and the CCGs’
big “challenge” is to “realign the mindsets of patients, their carers and NHS staff” to
accept the “vision” - as documents reveal and Greater Huddersfield CCG AGM confirmed.
