Self-Paced Class: What would life be like without laws?

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explain the importance of
why we have laws. (2 days)
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explain what would
happen in the United States if laws were not around. (Looking back at
previous primary sources and make comparisons to the present United
States). (2 days)
By the end of this lesson, you will be identify an event that changed
how laws were made in the United States that still affect us to this day.
(2 days)
You will receive mastery on this portion of the assignment when you
can identify and determine how and why we have conspiracy theories
in the United States. (3 days)
By the end of this lesson, you will explain what laws were enacted in
the United States after September 11 (this is due on Sept. 11) (1 day)
By the end of this lesson, you will create/design a video or artistic
piece decrypting a world without laws. (2 days)
By the end of this lesson, you will have completed your study guide
and turned it in for check in. (1 days)
By the end of this lesson, you will listen to the podcast from Frontline

Norms/Expectations
1. When asked for a writing portion of the assignment, it is
expected that you write in complete sentences.
2. The length of the writing is a minimum of page 12 font Times
New Roman. Please email me your assignment after you are
finished: please save it in word. My email address is
fin.burton@caverna.kyschools.us
3. You must cite evidence from the text whenever you are gathering
information from them.
4. You will grab your electronic device and proceed to your area of
the classroom. You are allowed to bring headphones to my class
so whenever you are listening to the assignment you will not be
distracted by other individuals.
5. You are to be respectful to those who are surrounded by you. In
your group, you will be working on the same assignment,
therefore, if you have a question, it is best to ask them first.
6. I am only one person. I will be hovering around the room from
group to group. If I am not in your group when you have a
question, I will get to them shortly. Please be respectful and
understanding that I am trying to do what I can to help all of you
understand the content.

Life Without Laws


Imagine a world without laws. What would it be like? I am sure that some of
you are thinking, Yeah, thatd be great. No one telling me what to do, I dont have
to listen to any boring teachers anymore, etc. Id really like for you to consider
what life would be like.

Identify an event that changed how new laws occurred after


an event
In the history of the world and in the United States, we have had several
things happen in our government immediately or shortly after a big event
happened in the United States. I want you to take a look at an event (here are
some examples, but they do not have to be these: Hurricane Katrina, September
11, 2001, December 7, 1941, etc.)

Conspiracy Theories
As with any country that has been establishedhow or why events have
happened have conspiracy theorist exclaiming that it was a set up by our
government. For this assignment, I would like for you to look at a theory, why or
how it came about, and what have been the effects of this in our country since. A
few examples of conspiracy theories are: September 11, JFK assassination, Free
Masons, etc. (If you dont know what these are, look them up!)
