ASSIGNMENT
VARIOUS CLASSIFICATION OF RAILWAY
Types of railway
Normal railway
Normal railways allow trains to move around with unlimited amounts of Cargo.
In real life the first steam locomotive to operate on rails was built in 1804 (1807 - first
passenger service). Diesel and electric trains and locomotives replaced steam engines
in many countries in the decades after World War II.
In game first temperate climate railway train (Kirby Paul Tank) is available in 1925.
The first sub-arctic and tropical landscapes train (Wills 2-8-0) is available in 1945.
Only steam and diesel trains run on this railway
Electrified railway
Electrified Railways became available in 1965. Electric trains will run only on this
type of track, unless you disable Electric Railways. Steam and diesel trains can still
run on this railway. By default, there are no electric trains in the sub-arctic, tropical or
toyland climates, only in the temperate climate. Electrified railways can be built as
normal track is, and can also be intersected with normal track. However, electrified
trains will not travel onto the normal track
Monorail
Monorail becomes available in 1999. Only Monorail trains can run on this railway.
Meaning 'single-rail', is based on an existing technology, where a train is travelling on
a single beam, rather than two separate tracks. Several countries in the world use
monorail for daily train service.
MagLev
MagLev is the final rail type, allowing the fastest trains and only becoming available
in 2022. Only MagLev trains can run on this railway. MagLev is the English
abbreviation for "magnetic levitation," which is an existing technology (though it isn't
used worldwide.) This technology allows trains to "levitate" (that is, to hover, or stay
in the air) due to repelling magnetic forces. Because there is literally zero friction
between train and its tracks, the train and its cars move very fast. The current world
speed record for a manned MagLev train is 581 km/h (361 mph) by SCMaglev
MLX01 on December 2, 2003.
