Please mark your calendars for two exciting events!

Wednesday, April 7, 9 - 10:30 a.m.

The Institute on Aging (IOA) and the Gerontology Association of Portland

State University (GAPSU) are hosting their annual Careers in Aging Week
panel discussion. This year's theme is "Careers Promoting Healthy Aging,"
and the speakers will discuss their work, offer suggestions for pursuing
similar career paths, and reflect on the future of careers in gerontology.
The panelists offer a variety of perspectives:

* Bob Scarfo, PhD - Landscape architect with a doctorate in Social

Geography who practices under Aging in Place Design in Spokane, Washington

* Teresia Hazen, M.Ed., HTR, QMHP - Coordinator of Legacy Therapeutic

Gardens & Horticultural Therapy program who focuses on therapeutic
horticulture and senior living

* Jessica McLaren - Program associate with Experience Corps, a mentor

program through which older adults work with elementary school children

* Sue Scott, MS - Exercise consultant, balance specialist and active

living consultant. Through her company Renewable Fitness she focuses on
bettering the health and well-being of seniors

Tuesday, April 6th, 2:30 - 3:45 p.m.

The IOA, GAPSU, and the Aging Matters: Locally & Globally initiative
will also host a presentation by Bob Scarfo, PhD. Dr. Scarfo, who has a
background in landscape architecture and social geography, will engage the
audience in discussion about collaborative community leadership for bringing
together divergent professions to help create livable communities for older
adults.

Both events will take place in the Parson's Gallery on the 2nd floor of
the PSU Urban Center, located at 506 SW Mill Street.
