In Madagascar this animal fills the niche of the wood pecker. The animal is very interesting, the Aye-Aye , living mostly in the trees, and using what is known as percussive foraging hunts grubs, that are making their homes in the trees.. The Aye-Aye will use its elongated finger to tap on the bark of a tree listening for the sound of a hollow spot in the tree. Once found, it then begins to munch away with its rodent lke teeth. These teeth are very Unique for a primate like this. And yes this creature is a primate just like the gorillas, the chimpanzees, and the lemurs. The Aye-Aye's teeth never stop growing just like rodents teeth They eat away at the bark and with their long skinny finger they reach down into the tree and harpoon the grub inside. Who needs tools like the chimps use when evolution made the tool on you? Other than its crazy appearance, which lets be honest these things are ugly as sin, the Aye-Aye is seen in Madagascar as an evil omen. It is very inquisitive, nocturnal, and it isn’t afraid to come right up to you and sniff you out. Now think about this for a second. Its night time in Madagascar and you're walking in the jungle, when out of nowhere this ugly creature comes Out of the tree with its bat ears and red-yellow eyes and starts coming toward you! With what you have heard from the locals that it is a death dealer and If it points its elongated finger at you, you die! Would you kill it? The answer better be yes! Because they have magical powers! Their long finger is used to dig out their victims brains from their ear! Those teeth that never stop growing, yeah they are used to puncture their prey’s neck and produce a rather large wound, This wound is where the aye-aye laps up the life energy of its prey! Did | mention that they can live well into their 200's? These long lived evil lemurs are causing a ruckus in the streets and need to be dealt with accordingly.
