Research Project Completion Form

TOPIC: Cyber/Real-Life Bullying and Reactions to It
1. What was your hypothesis?
The majority of Bullying people experience happens within a school setting. In addition,
the majority of people who observe other's being bullied do little to nothing to put a stop
to it.
2. What method of research design did you choose and why?
Questionnaire/Survey (Google Forums). I believed it was the easiest and most efficient
way to collect data within the limited time frame given to us.
3. How did you define the ambiguous (unclear) aspects of your topic?
Bullying: The physical and/or mental abuse of another individual/group.

4. What variables do you expect to impact your project?

Time

5. How do you plan on addressing those variables?

Not procrastinating
6. Data Collection:
How did you collect your data?
Google Forums Survey

Who did your project target?

My project focused on middle school/high school students

Did it matter who you targeted? Why or why not?

Yes. Adults might not remember their experiences with bullying when they were younger.
This could cause the results to be skewed.

7. Data Analysis:
How did you analyze your data?
Analyzed the visual pie charts provided by Google Forums to prove/disprove my
hypothesis. Then I asked myself what this said about the condition of bullying and antibullying measures within certain settings.
What were you looking for? (mean, mode, frequency, correlation, etc.)
Majority. So mode, in a sense.
What were your results?
The majority of bullying people experience happens within a school setting. The majority
of students who experience bullying do something to help in putting a stop to it.

Did your results prove or disprove your hypothesis? How do you know?
My results proved that the majority of bullying happens within a school setting. However,
my results also disproved my idea that the majority of people do nothing to stop bullying
when subjected to it directly/indirectly. I know because of the pie chart analysis I did that
I mentioned earlier.

6. Reflection:
What was the most difficult thing about this project?
Gathering a decent amount of data within a limited time frame.

If you could ask a different question or questions to improve your results what would it
be?
I would make some of the multiple choice questions I had checklist questions to make
results more accurate.

Is your view of the topic different now? Why or why not?

No. Bullying is wrong and I will always believe that. However, the fact that the majority
of people claim they helped to put a stop to bullying when they were subjected to it made
me feel better about the peer group Im in.

If you could do the entire project over again, what would you do differently?
I would make some of the multiple choice questions I had checklist questions to make
results more accurate.
Gather more data through more credible means. (Giving survey to a teacher to give to
his/her students)
Change demographic to get multiple perspectives.
