Arts Student of the Year Nomination Criteria

Arts Student of the Year is the inaugural awards ceremony for the Auckland
University Art Students Association. Our aim is to celebrate the incredible work and
support that students provide to the Faculty of Arts and the University of Auckland as
a whole, in a variety of different categories. The awards will be judged by a panel of
Faculty of Arts staff and a student representative, and the top three nominees in each
category will be invited to attend an evening function on Wednesday 14 October 2015
where the awards will be presented.
General Criteria
Each nominee must be a current student of the University of Auckland.
Each nominee must be currently completing a Bachelor of Arts, either
undergraduate or postgraduate.
Each nominee must have proven service to the Faculty of Arts and/or the
University of Auckland.
Award Categories
There are four categories of award. You may nominate yourself or be
nominated for more than one, however each award requires a separate
application.

Award Criteria
Service to Sports
This award is for a student who has shown consistent service to sport in the
Faculty of Arts or the University of Auckland as a whole, whether that be
participating, coaching, or managing a team.
Service to Culture
This award is for a student who has shown consistent service to culture in the
Faculty of Arts or the University of Auckland as a whole. This includes
contribution to forming a culture for arts students, personal achievement in
cultural endeavours, or organisation of initiatives that have contributed to the
culture of the Faculty of Arts.
Service to Academia
This award is for a student who has shown consistent service to academia in
the Faculty of Arts or the University of Auckland as a whole. This includes but
is not limited to personal academic achievement, research studies that have
benefited students, or tutoring/mentoring students.
General service to the Arts Faculty
This award is for a student who has shown consistent service to the Faculty of
Arts or the University of Auckland as a whole. This could be managing a club,
organising initiatives, or any other contribution that the student has made to
the Faculty of Arts that has benefited students.
Service by a Maori/Pasifika student
This award is for a student who identifies as Maori or Pasifika who has
contributed to the experience of Maori/Pasifika students in the Faculty of Arts.
This includes aiding initiatives, mentoring, or any other contribution that the
student has made to the Faculty of Arts that has benefited Maori/Pasifika
students.
The winners of these awards will all be considered for the overall prize of Arts
Student of the Year.
