"I won't do tis building anywhere else," he said during the openingIn contrast, the angular west-facng elevation is made up of shards of glass, designed to offer fractured reflections of neighbouring buildings.eb ‘According to Gehry the design was inspired by a treehouse. The expressive external form was a result ofthe complicated internal layout, deseribed by ‘the architect as "a growing. earning organism with many branches of thought, some robust and some ephemeral and delicate" ‘The centrepiece ofthe main lobby features sculptural sturcase made from polished stainless steel, while elsewhere onthe ground floor isa cafe that ‘opens out othe street‘Two oval-shaped classrooms ae framed by 150 large timber beams, staircase built fom Victorian asa wraps around one ofthese, leading up 10a student lounge on the floor above. Other facilities include a theatre designed for technology-supported interaction, as well asa variety of classroom types fo suit postgraduate students A total of 160 bicycle parking spaces are provided, as well as lockers, changing areas and showers, expected to encourage students and staffo cycleDue to weleome its first students later this month, the UTS Business School was completed as pat of £612 million overhaul of the university's facilites. It accompanies Deaton Corke: Is recently comple faculty, and will be joined later this year by a new graduate health and science building. Even when there are a few ‘whacky’ surfaces and ‘materials, the overall space still doesn't come across as exclting, appealing or thought provoking.
