Statistics for the occurrence of mycotoxins in raw materials could be easily found for almost all
countries of the world, but Russia seems to be a white spot. In this poster we are trying to present
the results for monitoring of 125 samples of corn from Krasnodar and Stavropol regions (southern
Russia), crop of 2007, in order to give at least small information about the contamination of crops in
Russia. Laboratory FL Test-Pushchino LLC performed quantative determination of Aflatoxin B1,
Deoxynivalenol, Fumonisin B1, Ochratoxin A, T-2 toxin and Zearalenone. We used ELISA
(RomerLabs Agraquant) for screening purposes, the second stage was chromatographic analysis
(HPLC-FLD and GC-MS). The obtained results were shocking – we found a catastrophic
contamination with mycotoxins, especially with Ochratoxin A. Some samples had extremely high
levels of this mycotoxin – up to 1000ppbs. The results, presented in poster, might be useful for
assessment of crop contamination in Russia.
