Assignment 2: Coding and decoding image sequences


My story based on a sequence
Describe the environment, the character(s), describe what are you seeing, what is happening, and why is
happening.

Its so sad what happened to John. He chose to get up early to work on his research paper
with his study group. After he completed the finishing touches, it appeared that he was the last
person to leave. He walks down the hallway with light shining through the interior windows. As
we walks down the hallways, there were several plaques and advertising signage.
He walks down the hallway and through the first door, which contains two windows in it.
He is wearing a dark shirt, jacket and khaki pants along with white colored tennis shoes. He
starts down the top of the stairs, holding the railing. It appears that he is alone in the stairwell. .
He reaches to the bottom of his first set of stairs.

He then places his hand on the railing and his foot appears to touch step by step. He
turns the corner around the poll at the bottom of the steps. As he begins the last set of stairs, a
hand appears in the picture on the persons left shoulder. Unfortunately, he is on the floor.
What I feel happened?
This person was walking to another building or to his/her car after early morning session.
He walks casually and moves along without a care in the world. Once they past the second set of
stairs, a person walks out of the second stairway doors. They put their hand on this persons
shoulder, startles them and they fall down the last flight of stairs from the top. This caused them
to lose their balance. Also, the fall has a heavy impact on their ability to get up and they stay on
the floor awaiting help and possibly, being are unconscious.
Personal Reflection and how I would use this in the classroom
I feel that this assignment is an exciting and progressive challenge to use in the classroom
setting. This would be a great task to use for pre-assessment. It allows students to begin
analyzing how a process is being completed as well as require that they make changes upon
recalling previous knowledge. This in fact also helps students learn through discovery learning
and encourages them to use critical thinking skills. Students must be mindful of details and pay
attention to significant features and characteristics of the pictures. Beyond this, students then can
later evaluate whether or not their hypothesis was correct and what additions and/or corrections
they would have to make to their theory.
