Part 1: Assessment Technology (150-250 words).

The thought for this quiz is for the students results to determine what the teacher does for
his or hers next assignment in the classroom. Being that a lot of the questions are more basic and
geared towards a refresher or placement quiz than that with one that hold a high weight value on
grades. This overview of the results would put this as a summative assignment since the material
will be totally completed before any changes to a student plan will be made. Knowing some
fundamentals of Geography will allow in hopes a better understanding of the more complicated
material that the earth has or gives. This examine would allow for a teacher to see where he or
she needs to start their focus at so no one student is left behind. The overview assessment would
be more of a formative assessment since with the results the teacher can plan accordingly to meet
the demands of the classroom.

Part 2: Blog Post

Introduction (4-6 Sentences):

Judging where a students base learning understanding of academic material is at is an
ever ending battle for teachers in the classroom. Either a student is excelling in the classroom or
falling behind, being able to tell the difference or act on the results will increase a students
productivity. Technology give teachers the ability to have instant results from a single student in
which some cases can narrow down a certain topic that is either weak or is a strength. This
technology also gives students techniques that can help engage the entire class in deeper

thinking and discussion, while informing the teacher on student understanding and
comprehension (Dryer, 2013).
Technology to Facilitate Ongoing Efforts to Assess Student Learning (150-200 words)
Every day teachers just like students are trying to find the next thing that will be better
than the last, most of the time for teachers its what is best for the classroom so that the kids can
gain knowledge quicker than before. Technology in the classroom allows for this to happen.
With websites like Bubble sheet, Socrative, Google Form, and Poll Daddy just to name a few of
the online applications that will be able to give instant feedback to teachers on students and their
understanding of the material. These forms of learning help provide rich, authentic tasks that
elicit aspects of integrated knowledge, critical thinking, and problem solving (Pellegrino, J. W.,
& Quellmalz, E. S. (2010)).
Socrative: This site allows for teachers to set up many different options for a challenging
learning experience. The ability to set up quizzes and games that when complete give the teacher
feedback on where the student is at with his or hers understanding of the material that is being
taught. A pro to this site is that it can be used with smartphones, laptops and tablets that most
student have already and if not can be borrowed at little cost to the school or school district.
(Dryer, 2013). Giving the ability to have instant results will also give the teacher a quicker
response time to both parents and maybe even other educators on the progress of the students in
his or her classroom.
Google Classroom or Google Form: Once again Google is forward thinking in the
ability to be able to access information for all to comment and work on. With Google classroom
a form can be set up that is monitored by the teacher and gives students the chance to discuss a
discussion question given to them by their teacher or just have an open plat form to talk about the

work that is going on in the class. Teachers can overlooks the progress for comments that are
being sent by students and also give teachers the ability to give more information on subjects that
might need more clarification than that was given in the classroom. Add the fact that in Google
search engine you are able to in The Advanced Search (www.google.com/advanced%5Fsearch)
allows learners to filter search results with additional criteria, including reading level and how
recently the page was updated. (Smith, B., & Mader, J., 2014).
Mentimeter: This site gives students using a mobile device or a tablet the ability to send
in their responses to teacher lead questions. Giving the students a chance to stay active in the
discussion while also staying engaged with what is being taught. Teachers will be able to see is
there is a student that is not participating in the activity and handle it accordingly. Staying
engaged in the classroom in a hard task for teacher, but with the technology to allow for kids to
stay active in the learning process growth will not only come personally but professionally with
the students.

(Formative and Summative Assessments) (100-150 words)

Formative assessment is the monitoring of a students progress while a teacher makes
changes in his or hers lesson plan depending on the outcome of the assessment. Summative
assessment which is the most common is a comprehensive end of year assessments of gradelevel learning that measure progress toward college and career readiness. (CDE, 2014) Both
forms of assessment are used in schools, finding which one works best for each teacher is a
responsibility of that teacher and that years classroom.
(Pros and Cons of using Technology to Facilitate Assessment) (200 words)

Technology is every changing, with that comes the understanding that with each change
there is going to need to be some understanding of additions knowledge. This goes with the
technology in the classroom, year years something bigger and better is going to come out and
offer the world to each teacher or student. By staying up to date with the technology that one
uses in the classroom students can benefit with deeper conversations and more challenging
thought process to figure out what needs to maybe happen. On the other side though if this
technology is not observed or monitored than young adults will become young adults and stray
from the proper usage of the material that needs to be taught.
(Should a teacher only use technology to assess student learning? Why or why not?)
Giving the technology that is available to teachers in this day and age it would be unjust
to the students to not use some form of technology to assess a students learning ability. This act
could be hurting a students academic growth all due to not being able to pin point an area that
might need more instruction or a tweak in the lesson plan so that multiple students could
understand the material better.
What is the importance of assessment technology in connection with the ISTE standards?
ISTE standards are the bases of learning for the youth in the country that we live in today.
Knowing that teachers are hitting certain marks that need to be meet will help or facilitate
continued growth during a students academic career.
Concluding Paragraph for Software to Support Assessment
With human nature wanting everything right now it is not uncalled for to what the same
in the classroom. This is what technology gives teachers. With sites like Socrative, Google, and
Poll Daddy just to name a few, teachers are now able to give students a better chance for higher
education and learning. These sites are interactive, that leads to a student being engaged in what

he or she is learning. That engagement is what all teachers are looking for in a students in the
classroom, a little bit of fire knowledge can lead to a burning desire for more knowledge.
