How has this text been made and how does it OPERATE to create
meaning? What effect or techniques do you need to research? The
film has a non-linear narrative plot. The film started after the climax, where he
already committed a murder. Most short films use this technique, so that they
would be able to explain the story in a short amount of time. Overhead- shot to
show the overview of the scene. Extreme close ups to show key features of the
film, such as the mobile phone, or the injection. Rack shot, sequence, medium
shot, and establishing shot was also used in this film to create an effect in the
film. The rock focus was used to emphasize certain objects in the scene, such as
the telephone when it rang. The medium shot, was used to generalize where the
main character was (room). The sequence film technique was used to show a
number of sequence of actions in short duration of time. This can be seen through
when Chris injects himself with the drug. The establishing shot was used to show
where, the complication had occurred. Establishing shot was used to

2. How might this text stand up to a CRITICAL reading, according to

different perspectives and experience? The story is shown through the
protagonists (Chris) point of view. The protagonist has a damning view of the
world. This could be seen with how he reacted when he saw his wife/girlfriend?
Cheating on him. This was also shown when he killed his wife, and his wifes ... His
actions showed how the character felt during his experience. He was
traumatised of the actions he has done, and caused him to panic. There is also a
message that the director wants to portray through this film: Be calm about
everything you do and think twice about what you are doing.

3. How do you make meaning from the cultural aspect of the text?
What questions are raised?
We know that the story is set in a Western Country, particularly an English
Speaking country, as the language they used during the film. It is showed in the
film that the character caught his wife cheating on him, and therefore, kills them.
This shows us that the protagonist, Chris, is short-tempered and that his emotions
controls his actions. He was so angry with his wife/girlfriend that he killed them
out of his anger. This story also shows how wicked the world is today. People
cheating on his/her partner, to satisfy their human desires. But not just cheating,
all sorts of other immoral actions are also occurring today. The question that
arises from this short film is, What will the world be like in the future, if the world
is as wicked as it is now?
