Reflection Memo

During the writing process I made a lot of revisions, and had to really think about making
my sentences stronger, and more specific. For the first assignment, the job analysis, I had to
think about what I liked about the company, and how they would be a good fit for me and viceversa. It was difficult at first because the company is an HR company so I had to really think
about what kinds of values I would them to have. The most difficult part for me was the cover
letter. I have never been good at letters, and making a professional, concise letter about myself
was very tough, and I had to revise my letter several times to really try and sell my skills, and
make it to the point. I did have great help from my peer which was Elana, she gave me great
feedback on the letter, and emphasized that I used verbs, and gave examples like she did. I did
enjoy this part the most though, because I know when looking for employment it will be this part
that the recruiters really inspect, and single out the potential employees from.
Another assignment that I really felt was useful, and will continue to do in the future, is
my gap analysis. It was not easy filling out the chart because the skills that I lacked were not
ones that I could improvise on, and say that I knew about. I did carefully analyze, and go over
every tech skill that I had to see how my current skills would compare with these new skills that
the Front End Developer job required. I felt as though I learned the most from doing this
analysis, and am grateful that I know how to fill in the gaps with the job descriptions for the
future.
I feel as though the outcome of my work is much better than I expected, I still feel though
that as my skills increase, and the more projects I take on, that I will have to continuously update
my work, but the fact that I was able to go through this process, and have tremendous help from

the book, and their guidelines, as well as useful tips, it will be a much more organized, and swift
process than before.
