Background

A public institution of higher learning


located in Columbus, Georgia
Opened as a junior college in 1958 with
300 students and 15 faculty and staff
members
Granted status to become a 4-year
college in 1965
Became a university in 1996

Mission statement

Campus

Originally located in a hosiery


mill in Columbus, Georgia
Relocated to midtown area in
1963 on 132 acres
Smaller campus located in
Downtown Columbus with
additional sites at Fort
Benning and Westpoint, GA
RiverPark Campus is located
near the Chattahoochee River

Recognition

CSU is known for its business school


with its reputable MBA program
Only accredited teacher education and
certification program in drama in the
State of Georgia
Music Department received Teaching
