o Lesson objectives were very appropriate for this group of children

o Lauren displayed a variety of strategies that were appropriate and
effective with this group of children

Readiness of materials
o Lauren was very prepared for the lesson. It required a lot of
materials and she was very organized.

INSTRUCTION
Ability to model and support active listening, interactive discussions, and
meaningful learning
o Lauren was able to facilitate interactive discussions (feedback loops)

Ability to adjust instruction to meet students needs


o We have a high ESL population and a few students that need to move
and Lauren was able to adjust instruction to meet all of our students
needs

Awareness of cultural and gender differences


o Lauren is and has always been very aware of cultural differences.

Developmentally appropriate teaching strategies


o Lauren used developmentally appropriate teaching strategies in this
lesson.
Ability to ask meaningful questions that enhance learning
o Laurens questions made students think at a higher level. She used
Who, When, What, Where, Why, and How questions

ASSESSMENT
Use of appropriate formal and informal assessment strategies
o Lauren used informal assessment strategies that were very effective
in letting her know where the children were in the lesson and what
they had learned thus far. She was able to informally assess
students by asking questions throughout the lesson and adjusting
accordingly so that each child was successful. This happened in the
beginning of the lesson so that she could activate prior knowledge.
During the lesson to see if she needed to reteach a concept, and at
the end to see how much the students had learned.
