Unit Outline
Unit Title: Domestic Violence & Wellbeing
Year: 9
Duration: 3 lessons (6 weeks)
Unit Description: In this unit, students identify and respond to abusive situations. They examine the different forms of abuse and how they can use
preventative strategies to support themselves in different situations and analyse the range of ways they can provide support to others. Students reflect on the
challenges young people may face at this stage of their lives and appreciate that these may provide unique opportunities for personal growth and resilience.

satisfying relationships.

Evidence of Learning
Students will evoke response to domestic violence YouTube videos
Students will examine the different effects that positive/negative relationships
cause.
Students watch videos on different ways young people respond to abuse.
Students analyse different websites assessing different support groups to assist
those prone to abuse, violence and wellbeing
Students use Weebly to gather information for a flipped classroom.

Teaching, Learning and Assessment Activities


Students will use Weebly (website) to gather information and prepare for future lessons.
Students will watch short films and documentarys followed by answering the questions for each video to bring into class for groups discussions
Students are to visit the 4 provided websites and record the different types of abuse, the impacts it causes, preventative strategies and support groups to
help themselves/others
Students are to download an education app relating to domestic violence on their iPad/phone and follow instructions on what is required of them in the
app
Students are to download provided worksheets to bring into class completely answered to be discussed as an whole class
