Substantively and affectively prepare for action with individuals,


families, group, organizations, and communities.

Application: Before meetings with students, everyone who will be


present for the meeting brings notes, classroom info,
observations, and the students folder in order to be prepared.

Application: While informing the student on what they need to fix,


adding in good qualities about them is helpful to keep them
motivated.

Ex: giving the student jobs to do before class.

Select appropriate intervention strategies

Application: For a student who was disruptive in class and being


defiant, the intervention was to create a consistent schedule for
the student and not let him leave class, and encourage the
parents to not check him out. Each teacher developed an
individual plan for their class with him.

Application: Encourage student who has tendency to fight with

counselor to prevent an altercation.

Ex: a student wanting to be
placed in another home visits
my supervisor to discuss his
options and how to ask his
social worker.

Application: Truancy Mediation; decide whether the fault lies with


the parent or child. Some cases my supervisor advocates for the
parent to show their efforts in improving attendance.

504 plans that come from
elementary school may
transition out of needing
accommodations. School
social worker is responsible
for monitoring that.

Social workers critically analyze, monitor, and evaluate


interventions.

Application: Reviewing intervention strategies to decide if any


improvement has been made.
Grief group evaluation to decide if the students have benefitted
from it.
