ACTIVITY (example of use)

BODY MOVEMENTS:

The teacher gives a series of situations (e.g. tree, grass, school flag, paper,
people) and students are to act out how wind would effect these
items/objects.

Students use their body movement and actions in a controlled
environment to demonstrate and express the power of wind.

BOATS AND WIND

Students make origami paper boats and race them in the class lake (a large
water trough-like container). Students use straws to blow air in order to
race their boats across the finish line.

Alternatively, students could use milk cartons, popsticks and various other
materials to design and create a racing boat.

PAPER WIND-MILLS

Students make paper wind-mills and investigate the effects of wind. Use
hairdryer, their own breath, go outside etc to investigate different
strengths winds and its varying power.

STOP-ANIMATION: JESUS CALMS THE STORM

Create a Claymation or another stop-animation type short footage video
depicting the Bible story Jesus calms the storm. Discuss the powers of
water and wind in this story.

PRAYERS IN THE AIR:

Students write a prayer thanking God for something about or in creation
on a balloon-shape cut out. This ties back to the theme of forces in nature
(wind). Each morning one balloon is taken down and the prayer is said to
start the day. New balloon each day.

LAST SUPPER INTERVIEW

Students conduct an interview in pairs one student is to be their
interviewer, the other is a character (e.g. disciple, Jesus etc) present at the
Last Supper. Together the two retell the events of the Last Supper and
why we remember the words and actions at the Last Supper.

would be like if people drew away from Jesus and on the other half what
life would be like if people drew closer to Jesus.

THANK YOU PRAYERS

Students write a prayer to God thanking Him for something e.g. their
family, friends, nature etc

This can be done by simple paper method whereby the students can then
decorate it as they desire.
Alternatively, these prayers could be typed up and decorated using images
from the internet and allow students to experiment with formatting and
various design options on programs such as Word or Pages.

STAINED GLASS WINDOW

Cut out and correctly place important actions, furnishings and words
related to the Liturgy of the Word (one half) and the Liturgy of the
Eucharist (second half).

SCRAMBLED PRAYERS

Game: Multi-Player. Who can re-order the prayer on the board the
