Maddison has improved her work ethic over recent months in Legal Studies.

This has allowed her to

develop a wider knowledge base in Legal Studies. Her extended response writing however needs to be
developed as this type of response forms a significant part of the three major examinations she will sit in
this subject in Year 12. This is an area which cost her marks in the end of Year 11 examination. I would
encourage Maddison to practice extended responses with a view to submitting them for marking. By
doing this she will refine her extended response technique.

Cameron is a capable student. When on task his responses are impressive and show a thorough
understanding of legal issues, concepts and current affairs. His writing tends to emulate this, and
consequently he performed well in the end of year examination, which has a heavy extended response
component. He does however need to be more consistent in his approach to his studies. At times he can
impress with his knowledge and writing skills, but at other times a nonchalant work ethic seems to be
impeding his ability to reach the standard he can. If Cameron can remedy this, he has the potential to
achieve very pleasing results at the end of next year.
Nicholas is an enthusiastic member of the class. This, combined with a sound general knowledge of legal
issues and concepts gives his a good background for Legal Studies. Nicholas must realise however that
this will not cover the course and in order to achieve to his potential he must commit to a more regular
study and revision schedule. He does offer some insightful contributions to class discussions but at times
these can be inappropriate. To that end I would encourage him to consider his offerings to class debate
before he throws ideas out there. Nicholas' overall assessment mark has been impeded by an inability
to hand in take home assessment tasks on time.
Jaye has worked consistently in Legal Studies throughout the Year 11 course and consequently has
achieved some pleasing results. He has a sound grasp of legal concepts and issues and consequently is
well placed to perform well in this subject in the Higher School Certificate course. Most impressive is his
knowledge of dispute resolution procedures. Jaye does need to commit more to general study however.
Whilst he realizes the importance of assessment tasks and responds well to these, he must give his
classwork and homework a similar effort. By doing this he should be able to emulate these results at the
end of next year.
Letitias results are disappointing. Her poor work ethic and inability to leave issues of a personal nature
at the classroom door has led to the results outlined below. Letitia has also failed to hand in take home
assessment tasks on time and consequently this has adversely affected her overall result. With her
current work ethic it is difficult to see these results improve. She is capable of more, and at times can
offer insightful contributions to class discussion. However her reluctance to do any meaningful work
along with a nonchalant work ethic means the results outlined below were inevitable.

Amelia is a capable and generally polite student. Her results this year have been good, but there is scope
for improvement. She has a good knowledge of some legal concepts and issues such as the role of the

constitution in how Australia is governed and dispute resolution procedures which is pleasing. However,
Amelias extended response writing needs development. There is a significant extended response
component in the three examinations that Amelia will sit in Legal Studies in the Higher School Certificate
course. Consequently, it is imperative that she develops her extended response technique so that she
can maximize her results in these examinations.
Jessicas end of year examination result was pleasing. Her knowledge of course work has developed,
particularly over the second half of this year. As the year has progressed Jessica has also increasingly
offered valuable contributions to class discussions. Her extended response writing however needs to be
developed as this type of response forms a significant part of the three major examinations she will sit in
this subject in the Higher School Certificate course. This area was notably disappointing in Jessicas end
of Year 11 examination. I would encourage Jessica to practice extended responses with a view to
submitting them for marking and read what the questions is asking more thoroughly.

Danni is a delightful student to have in the class. She keeps up to date with course work and her take
home assessment tasks are given a high priority. However, Dannis extended response writing and
examination technique in general needs development. It has been both the half yearly and end of year
examination that has adversely affected her results. To improve in this area, Danni should make a
commitment to complete past papers and submit them for marking. By doing this she will expose
herself to examination settings, conditions and questions which should improve her performance in
each of the three examinations she will sit in the Higher School Certificate course.
