Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
. Teachers use their knowledge of subject
matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning,
creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers:
a
.
promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.
What have I learned that will help me promote, support and model creative and
innovative thinking and inventiveness? Cite specific resources, techniques, and
technologies.

I have learned about ISTE and the standards that are in place to ensure
student growth. I have learned about google classroom and the many uses
of the google plus community. I have learned about forms and surveys and
how to use them for learning. I have learned that other teachers are using
technology in the classroom and it is working. I have learned about flipped
classroom using technology to teach outside of the classroom so the
classroom is for projects and extended learning.
b
.
engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using
digital tools and resources.
Give examples of how you can explore real-world issues and engage students in
solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. Describe specific digital
tools and resources for two real-world issues.

Giving students an issue, have them research it, discuss solutions, and
create a project that has guidelines.
c
.
promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students
conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.
Which collaborative tools can you use to promote student reflection using reveal and
clarify students conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative
processes? Please list at least two tools, and describe how they achieve these ends.

Using Facebook/ Pinterest/ Instagram for student work to be posted as an

Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
. Teachers design,
develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary
tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and
attitudes identified in the National Education Technology Standards for Students (NETSS). Teachers:
a
.
design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and
resources to promote student learning and creativity.
How could you adapt a learning experience incorporating digital tools and resources
to promote student learning and creativity for a student with visual impairment?

Video or voice recording of the assignment. Have that student work with
someone who typically finishes an assignment early.
How could you design a learning experience incorporating digital tools and
resources to promote student learning and creativity for a student who has difficulty
prioritizing during a project?

This student would need individual check list. Give one assignment at a time
for him/her to turn in before they get the next part of the assignment.
b
.
develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to
pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own
educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.
Which technologies do you think you will most effectively be able to use in your art
classroom?

Computer technologies such as blogs, youtube, research tools, and

communication tools.
Camera for capturing photos and video.
Smart board for the ability to interact with the art.
List two technologies with which you want to become more familiar to eventually
incorporate into your classroom.

I would like to be familiar with tablets and the most useful apps for the art
room to have on them.
I would like to be more familiar with ways to incorporate photography in
terms of the students documenting their own work and building a digital
portfolio on a website such as Artsonia.

List five ways you can enable students to pursue their individual curiosities and
become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their
own learning, and assessing their own progress.

I think using the idea of the flipped classroom will help students manage
their own learning they become responsible for what they accomplish
before class and how much extended learning they give themselves.
Assessing their own progress could be done in an online portfolio where
they can look back at previous years.
Individual blogs could help students create and maintain their own goals,
learning, and progress.
Printing a classroom goal from a word cloud program each semester could
help students track their learning.
Online surveys could give students the abilty to make sure the assignment
they are turning in is complete. They could take a pre-assessment and then
again a post assessment.
Research assignments could keep students involved in how much
knowledge they obtain about the subject.
c
.
customize and personalize learning activities to address students diverse learning
styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources.
List three learning styles and which digital tools or resources you could use to
facilitate learning for students with each style.

Logic/Mathematical- Using graphing tools for data and comparison.

Visual- Image searching or using a video demonstration could help visual
learners understand the task at hand.
Verbal- Using blogging and response tools on the computer for students to
be able to use their written verbal skills. Could also use sound recording
programs to record responses if a student prefers to speak.
List three work strategies and the digital tools or resources you could use to facilitate
learning for students with each preferred strategy.

The 2-minute rule- Using an online timer that is visual and makes a sound
when that two minute task should be finished.
Single tasking- Giving one instruction at a time on a powerpoint and the
power point can not change until the first task is completed.
Backwards- Having students create an end product then decomposing it
backwards on a video lesson.
Scenario: two students must work together to complete a project. Student A is great
at visually organizing information, while student B is a strong writer. Which digital
tools and resources could you employ to help students work together to complete
their task?

Students could use Google DOCs, Sheets, or Slides to create a visual

document together one could work on formatting while the other fills in the
text. They can work from their own computer since the document will save
and share.

provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments
aligned with content and technology.
What is the difference between formative and summative assessments? Please
provide descriptive examples.

Formative are assessments taken in the learning process of a lesson. Such

as thumbs up thumbs down, pre-assessments, checks for understanding,
worksheets.
Summative assessments are taken at the end of a longer period of time to
see if the students truly understand the content they were supposed to
learn.
Give four examples of formative assessments aligned with content and technology
standards.

standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching.
How will you use assessments to inform individual students of their progress? How
often will you inform them of their progress?

Students will be responsible for tracking their progress. Holding Individual

meetings with students to discuss their progress after each lesson ends.
How will you use assessments and resulting data to inform your teaching? How often
will you asses your data?

Assessing data each step of the way is important to me to make sure my

students are growing appropriately. gaging when I need to have one-on-one
lessons or small group lessons. I will only move on if students understand
the material because it is all building on top of each other.
3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
. Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes
representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Teachers:
a
.
demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to
new technologies and situations.

Describe a time when you had to transfer your current technical knowledge to a new
technical situation (examples: switching between Windows and OSX, different text or
image editing programs, migrating from a paper calendar to a digital calendar,
changing from a laptop to a netbook or smartphone). What challenges did you
encounter? How did you apply the knowledge you already possessed to assist your
adaption to the new technology?

I have a Windows 8 phone and tablet it makes it very hard to move things
from one system to the other. I typically have everything on my phone and
have to email everything. Doing my ISTE video I couldnt pull it from my
phone to my email. So I had to connect it via USB and transfer the video to
my desktop. I wanted to use screenr on my tablet but I couldnt download
JAVA and there was no screen recording app. Now I feel I need to chunk my
phone and my laptop. I managed to complete the task because I knew
enough about technology to get around it.
b
.
collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools
and resources to support student success and innovation.
Describe a time when you used digital tools to support collaboration with peers.

As a school we use DropBox to turn in our lesson plans. So when I want to

connect my lessons back to the classroom I can pull up a grade levels
lesson plans and see what they are doing in the classroom. Then I use that
to plan my lesson and extend the students learning
What modifications might you need to make to the way you collaborated above when
dealing with students under the age of 13?

If I were to do DropBox with students I would have them write stories then
their peers would be able to open their story, read it, then draw a picture
based on that students story. I would need to make sure that the students
post their stories as a read only file so not one could make adjustments.
Though DropBox is an email sign up so I would have to find a similar place
to do the same thing.
c
.
communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and
peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats.
How will you effectively communicate ideas to students, parents, and peers using
digital media? Which media will you employ? Describe at least two formats for each
of the three audiences.

Parents- remind, classdojo, e-mail and bi-weekly newsletter formatted on

publisher
Students- teacher website, classdojo and school website
Peers- Email and DropBox
d
.
model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate,
analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning.
How do I use emerging technologies to locate information?

I use technologies for research purposes. If I dont know something I want

to find it and get to know it.
How do I use emerging technologies to analyze information?

Comparing and contrasting things people have researched and have to say
about the information I am looking for.
How do I use emerging technologies to evaluate information?

I make an informed decision about what information is valuable and then I

am comfortable with sharing that information with others.
How do I use emerging technologies to use information to support my learning?

I receive emails from specific sites I use those emails to delve into the
information I have not used or been previously aware of. Those sites are key
to my process of continuing learning.

.
Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility.
Teachers understand local and global
societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior
in their professional practices. Teachers:
a
.
advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and
technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate
documentation of sources.
What is digital citizenship?

Having a presence online in the digital world

How do I already model respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the
appropriate documentation of sources?

Respecting copyrighted material and citing sources any time they are used.
Where can I improve my advocacy of ethical use of digital information?

Making sure that I teach my students their responsibility to use digital

information ethnically. Making sure that I am modeling to my students every
time I borrow information.
b
.
address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies and
providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources.
Identify three different types of learners, and discuss a learner-centered strategy for
each that employs appropriate digital tools.

Audio- Giving students auditory cues to help them know what is next.
Visual- Giving students visual cues to help them know what to do next.
Kinesthetics- letting students explore a tool without instruction but
parameters.

What inequities are you aware of that lead to different learners failing to gain access
to appropriate digital tools?

Not having access to head phones, digital makes kinethetics a different feel
because they cant actually touch they can explore and use a mouse to
explore but they may be unable to get the physical contact they desire.
c
.
promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the
use of technology and information.
What is netiquette? Give two examples.

Netiquette is practicing good etiquette on the internet.

Example A: Being respectful of other peoples ideas even if we disagree.
Example B: Using appropriate language.
Example C: Being mindful of Copyright material and intellectual material.

Identify two other rules of etiquette that relate to the use of specific technologies (i.e.
cell phone use, text messages, voicemail messages, email messages, blog posts,
social networking sites, and so forth). How did you become aware of these rules?

Cell phones- Turning them on silent during a movie or mass assembly out of
respect for others. You become aware of this because both kindly request
of this of you before the movie/ assembly starts. And by experiencing the
annoyance when someone doesnt oblige.
Email- Keeping your emails professional when emailing someone you do not
know or emailing a superior. Common knowledge and googling how to write
an email. And Dr.Elliot made sure we were aware of that when we started
the program.
d
.
develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with
colleagues and students of other cultures using digital-age communication and
collaboration tools.
Have you ever engaged someone from another culture using digital-age
communication?

Yes I often use Skype on a personal level to talk to friends in Europe and
China. Would be nice to use the same idea to find other artists in other
countries to talk to view their studios and have the students ask questions.
If not, how could you develop greater global awareness using digital age
communication and collaboration tools?

Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership.
Teachers continuously improve their professional
practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by
promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources. Teachers:
a
.
participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of
technology to improve student learning.

Name two learning communities in which you participate which explore creative
applications of technology to improve student learning.

b
.
exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in
shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and
technology skills of others.
Describe a way you demonstrate a vision of technology infusion.

Crowd funding for money to get some technology into my classroom that is
assessable to me and my students at any point in the day.
How do you participate in shared decision making and community building in your
community?

Through my own classroom website, the school website, and the SCS art
community online.
How have you contributed to developing the leadership and technology skills of
others?

Any time a teacher has an issue that I can assist with I show them how to go
about completing what they need done.
c
.
evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis
to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support
of student learning.
How do you keep up with current research and professional practice on a regular
basis?

I receive emails from specific websites that deal specifically with art
education, technologies, the school district, as well as classroom
management.
How do you regularly evaluate and reflect on this information?

I reflect on them as often as I receive the emails typically once a week. Each
article keeps me evaluating my effectiveness as a teacher and ways I can
incorporate their tips into my lessons and classroom.
d
.
contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession
and of their school and community.
