Course Description:
Sixth grade science will introduce students to the fundamentals of Earth and Space
Sciences. Concepts will be taught in the classroom using real-world contexts, and
supplemented with field trips to local museums to reinforce student understanding.
Students are expected to participate actively, work collaboratively with classmates, and
to present their new knowledge orally and in written form in order to develop all aspects
of their academic and language skills.
Each unit will consist of a variety of assessments for students to demonstrate their
understanding of course material. Formative assessments, such as in-class work and
homework, allow students to gauge their learning during each unit of study. Summative
assessments, such as tests, projects, and evidenced-based writing, will allow students to
show their level of comprehension of course content.
Grading Policy:

Grades will be updated via Engrade Pro at

once a week. Students and parents should
aware of a students course grade in order
avoid unexpected surprises at the end of a
semester.
