Abstract
This assignment consist of two Parts. The first part emphasizes the importance of summarizing
and note-taking according to Dean et al. Classroom Instruction that Works. It provides an
example of a summary of an article titled Best Practice: Summarizing and Note taking
Sponsored by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) 2008. Followed by an explanation of the value
of the article and the value of note taking or summarizing. As well as how note taking and
summarizing is a valuable skill for English language learners. Well note taking and summarizing
is necessary, these two strategies need to be taught in a ruled base step by step approach.
Part 2 shows a modified Vann Diagram comparing and contrasting two informational articles
using the Problem Solution Frame. This two articles are based on a same topic, bullying and
cyberbullying for a 6th Grade Social Studies class.
