Third Lab. : Bed Making

Introduction
Bed Making: The technique of preparing different types of
patient's comfortable bed in his/ her suitable position for a
particular condition.
Types of bed making procedures:
Unoccupied bed: used when the patient
is able to get out of bed.
2-Occupied bed: used when the patient
is not allowed out of bed.

Purpose
1. To provide clean and comfortable bed for the
patient.
2. To reduce the risk of infection by maintaining a
clean environment.
3. To prevent bed sores by ensuring there are no
wrinkles to cause pressure points.

Bed Sores
Bed sores (also known as decubitus ulcers or Pressure
ulcers) : It is an ulceration in the skin that is caused by
prolonged pressure on a bony or weight bearing part of
the body.
Four main factors:
* Pressure
* Shearing forces
* Friction
* Moisture
