January 20, 2015 Monday, is the first day that I'm going to observe at my chosen school
Mayuro National High School located at Brgy. Mayuro Rosario Batangas. The Principal Mrs.
Jocielyn M. Bianzon give us our cooperating teacher and also the schedule. Our cooperating
teacher is Ms. Mylene Semira a Filipino subject teacher. Then monday morning I observe that
students have their daily routine like watering plants,cutting off the grass, cleaning the ground,
everyone cooperates to make their environment clean.Then after an hour they conduct fire and
earthquake drill. I observe that students are not that actively participating because, I can see it on
their face that they are not very excited on the activity.Then around 10:00 a.m after the drill we
started to observe together with our cooperating teacher Ms. Mylene Semira.On Fs 1 The
Learner's Development and Environment. I observe the facilities like Office of the
Principal,canteen,audio visual room,gym,outdoor garden,home economic room,comfort room for
girls and boys and the computer room. Then when it comes on room facilities there are wall
displays, which include the list of cleaners,birthday celebrants,schedule then rules,inspiring
quotations and some warning quote. Then the teacher's table is infront. Then the learner's desk
are old and have some damages,that's why students focus are not that solid, in additional the
classroom windows,the floor because of these, students are not motivated to listen on their
teacher.
Then the visual aid used by the teacher gives an impact on students. The school
environment so far is good although there are lack on some materials or lack on facilities like
comfort room,computer room and so on, still students learn. Students are very active. Some are
quiet,and other are talkative. They are not afraid to answer though their answer is somewhat far
from what teacher's ask. Then FS 2 Experiencing the Teaching-Learning Process. Based on my
observation there are principles of learning that are not used. Like "effective learning begins with
the setting of clear and high expectations and learning outcomes" because I observed that our
cooperating teacher when starting a new lesson, she's not giving her objectives she direct on the
lesson proper. Then I observed that the teacher and the student have a harmonious relationship.
Then when it comes on the lecture students participate and answer what teacher's ask, although
they answered in chorus still they understand the lesson. And also I noticed that some of the
students when there are group activities most of them specially boys do not cooperate, they make
their own world.So that's why it shows that one principle is not present the "Learning is
enhanced in atmosphere of cooperation and collaboration."
Then last FS 3 Technology in the Learning Environment. My cooperating teacher used
instructional materials involving visual aid and audio visual materials. She use those materials
so that students will have a better understanding about the topic or lesson. Then they have audio
visual room and also projectors. They also have printer.But there are no guidelines for borrowing
the materials. At the AVR they have the LCD and the speakers, and I think those materials are
not free from dust,because the room have damages on the window,then the LCD TV is placed
only on the table without any support.With this observation, it will help me when I am on the
field of teaching because I observed some techniques and strategy on teaching. And it will give
me an idea on how I will improve the learning environment for the better learning of the
students,and make some steps or plan to make an effective promotion of learning.
