Article I: Purpose
The representative body of the students of Dehesa Charter School, Riverside Learning Center
shall be called Student Council hereafter.
Section One: Purpose
To promote school activities
Plan campus wide events
Complete a community service project
Improve school morale
Create a strong community environment on campus
Encourage student involvement and enthusiasm in all school activities
Article Two: Membership
Section One: Council Makeup
Council Board of Officers shall be made up of the following: President, Vice President,
Secretary, Treasurer, Publicist
Officers should be nominated by members of the Student Council
During the officer nominations and voting, there should a quorum of delegates.
In the case of a tie, the Student Council Advisor will make the tie decision
Each position shall be for the length of one year
Section Two: Duties of the Officers:
President
Enforce the Constitution
Can be impeached by a majority vote of the Student Council
Prepare the agenda for and preside over all meetings
Be a representative at school related community functions
Be a non-voting member at Student Council meetings except in the event of breaking a
tie vote
Keeps members informed and serve as a role model
Vice President
Preside over all meetings and activities in the absence of the President
Maintain the council calendar of events
Secretary
Keep accurate minutes of all Council meetings and submit monthly to Advisor for
publication
Be responsible for all correspondence from Student Council and the faculty
Report progress made in any Council goals and or events
Serve as a role model
Take attendance at meetings and events
Treasurer
Oversee Council expenses and revenues
Make financial reports and accounts for Council activities
Maintain the Council cashbox
Maintain Council assets and equipment
Preside over the budget committee
Publicist
Maintain Student Council Social Media Account(s)
Coordinate the maintenance of the Student Council website
Develop and maintain a Student Council Directory
Serve as a role model
Serve as a liaison between the Student Council and the Regional Manager
Keep the student body informed of events
Representative
Support Officers in their duties
Serve as a role model
Support Publicity
Attend all functions
Section Two: Qualifications:
Must be in 9, 10, 11, or 12th grade
All members of the Student Council shall have voting rights
Section Three: Removal
Students can be removed from Student Council at the discretion of Student Council
Advisor or Regional Manager
There is no appeals process
