Educational Rationale: (what is your rationale for doing this lesson? Is this lesson or activities
that it comprises educationally worthwhile?)
This is the second lesson of AFL and therefore still introducing the skills of: small controlled and
accurate kicks, handballs and tackling.
All skills will be taught in a game-sense approach and engaging and fun activities to ensure
learning is meaningful and relevant to students real lives.
AusVels Links Year 9:
Students increasing strength and development allows for greater control and skill in physical
activity. Students develop proficiency in a range of high-level movement and manipulative skills;
for example, combining several skills simultaneously, devising and employing tactics and
strategies to counter tactical challenges. Their increasing skills in planning, observation and

analysis allow them to develop and evaluate ways of refining techniques and enhancing their
own and others performance.
