ABSTRACT

This action research is conducted to improve the accuracy of tempo in recorder playing using
Metronome Plus software that has been installed. This study is conducted among pupils from
year 5 students at one of school in Kuala Lumpur. These 25 pupils consist of 6 boys and 19
girls that have been choose after early review has been done. The purpose of early review is
to prove and evaluate the exist problems and an interview have been conducted with their
Music Educations teacher and questionnaire also been distributed according to the study. The
outcome from the assessment can be concludes that the pupils facing a problem in tempo
during playing recorder. The focus of this research is to improve the accuracy of their tempo
during playing recorder. The planned interventions conducted through 4 activities. Data
collection instruments that been used are observation, pre-test, post-test, and interviews. The
result of post-test study shows an improvement from no one getting Grade As (excellent
80%-100%) to 9 pupils (39%). One of the pupils sit on the low level which is Grade D has
been recorded. The next studies proposal are using software to improve during playing
percussion according beats and also as a guide for creating rhythm pattern.
