Positions at Curtin Sarawak
Dr. Adeline Wong who is the Chairman of Mental Health Association
Miri was the former Academic Registrar of Curtin University Sarawak.
She retains a dual portfolio at Curtin University Sarawak and also a lecturer with the Faculty of Business and Humanitarian.
Currently, she is the Dean of Students which takes the responsibility of
counseling, misconduct, health, receives complaints, equity and ethics. In

the university, there are two bodies under her control which are Student
Council and Voluntary Aid Detachment. They need to report to her on the
progress of the bodies.

World Mental Health Day on 24th October 2015

Miri, Wednesday- Mental Health Association of Sarawak (Miri Branch) collaborates with General
Hospital Miri to organize World Mental Health Day on 24th October 2015 from 10am to 5pm at
Bintangmega Mall Miri.
The reason of organizing this campaign is to raise awareness of mental health problems around the
world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. Besides, this campaign also teaches the
community on how to prevent themselves from getting mental illness.
The chairman of Mental Health Association Miri, Dr. Adeline said that community should
participate in this campaign so the knowledge can be spread to others that results in reducing the
percentage of getting mental illness.
She also said it is worth to spend the time on this
meaningful campaign as it may change anyone lives.
This campaign will consists of the activities such as talk on
preventing getting mental illness, one-to-one session with the
counselors and performances by mental illness patients.
Lunch will be provided and the participation fee is free.

Mental Health Association Miri is a non-profit organizations that promotes mental

health services enhance the welfare of the community. The missions are to spread information on the prevention of mental illness and ways to maintain mental health, promote
progressive legislation in the field of mental health and to maintain relationship with
other mental health associations. It was founded on 10 April 1999. The activities that
they carried out are counseling to people in mental distress, public education on mental
health and provide support for the mentally ill and their careers.
